humanopinion's Privacy Policy

humanopinion was created to provide an unbiased, non-partisan web platform for users to freely express their own opinions, view others opinions and also request opinions of others . A place where all these valuable opinions and the priceless statistics they create are then recorded and presented for all possible time (within reason), and for all of humanity - for every person on the planet to access freely.
The very essence of humanopinion is based upon the effectiveness and reliability of the information which you provide, this means at humanopinion it is part of our core principle to take your personal privacy very seriously.
Please read on to learn more about our privacy policy.

PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy is designed to explain, and covers, the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information by Humanopinion Ltd ("humanopinion"), when you visit or use the humanopinion website ("website") or any humanopinion services ("humanopinion services").

This Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties which are not under humanopinion's ownership or control, or to individuals which are not employed or managed by humanopinion.

By visiting or using the website or any of the humanopinion services, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

DATA PROTECTION ACT

humanopinion is registered with the Data Protection Act. This means we will comply with this act when running the website or any humanopinion services.

TRUSTe PRIVACY PROGRAM

humanopinion is currently in the process of applying to become a licensee of the TRUSTe Privacy Program. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to build user’s trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting the use of fair information practices.

Because humanopinion wants to demonstrate its commitment to your privacy, in the event of acceptance by the TRUSTe Program it will agree to disclose its information practices and have its privacy practices reviewed for compliance by TRUSTe.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our privacy policy, you should first contact our privacy staff using the form provided HERE.

In the future - subject to humanopinions acceptance by the TRUSTe Privacy Program - if you do not receive acknowledgement of your inquiry or your inquiry has not been satisfactorily addressed, you will be able to contact a "TRUSTe Watchdog". TRUSTe will then serve as a liaison with us to resolve your concerns. Though we will do our best to make sure the need for this will never arise.

FREEDOM OF PRESS INDEX

We are about freedom of speech, freedom of opinion. We are about supporting democracy. We are against government suppression. We are about keeping our users data sancrisant - keeping your privacy YOUR privacy.

Therefore on top of being registered with the Data Protection Act, and applying to become a licensee of the Truste Privacy Program, to ensure that user data is afforded as much protection and freedom from suppression as possible, humanopinion has committed to processing and hosting its data in only the countries which, according to Reporters Sans Frontiers (see their website HERE or http://www.rsf.org), are ranked with one of the best possible scores on their Press Freedom Index ("PFI").

We are in a time where people are continuing to voluntarily entrust website services with more and more personal information, and where, humanopinion believes, this trust should be upheld.
But we are also in a time where various governments continue to enforce more and more regulations restricting freedom of speech -freedom of opinion- and yet simultaneously grant themselves more power and lee way to access others personal information, other peoples personal privacy.

We have seen, and there have been cases, where certain governments have used their power to demand that web companies hand over the personal information on others of which the web company holds, and more importantly, which the user has entrusted theses companies/organisations with - nobody else.

In hoping to minimise any possibilities of this occurring, humanopinion undertakes to monitor the PFI scores of countries in which we host data and move data from any country that's PFI score changes significantly as soon as is possible.

USE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED BY HUMANOPINION

The humanopinion website core is based upon gathering and recording information - eg. your opinions - and being able to use and display that information and the resulting statistics in both a useful and meaningful way, which is then beneficial to all humanopinion users, and all humanity. In this respect it is critical that this information can be effectively analysed.

For example, if a particular RFO 'B' is raised which is pertinent to all the residents of a particular country 'Z', the results of this RFO must be able to be analysed and dissected so people can then tell, for example, how many users which participated in RFO 'B', were actually residents of country 'z'.

Without these capabilities the immense value of humanopinion to all humanity is automatically deflated.
humanopinion therefore uses the information we collect to help provide these deemed necessary abilities and extra features to you - humanity, so we may deliver you a high quality user experience.

We do not present your personally identifiable information to others unless you choose to submit and display it - making it publicly available - eg. within your 'My Public Profile' feature. This is your choice and responsibility and we are not responsible for, and strongly advise you to consider, any ramifications this may have.

humanopinion allows other users to browse (and subsequently also participate in) RFO's that you have raised. This information is made available to other users via your humanopinion public profile, or when veiwing an RFO you have raised through the link - "other RFO's raised by same author", unless you raised an RFO anonymously. The settings of which you can, and are encouraged to control, within the 'My Public Profile' link in your 'My Opinion' page

From time to time, humanopinion or a partner, may sponsor an award, promotion, sweepstake, particular poll, or contest/competition on the website or through the humanopinion services. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address, home address or to answer particular questions, accept particular terms in order to participate or collect their prize. humanopinion when conducting a promotion (or any of the such above) will make it clear: who is organising it and so collecting the personal information, whose privacy statement will apply and also any Details and/or Terms and Conditions which apply.

humanopinion will send you only service-related announcements from time to time through the general operation of the service. For instance: if someone invites you to participate in a particular RFO, or as controlled by you - if someone posts discussion on one of your RFO's, or other notices you may choose to receive; you may receive an email, or a notice within your 'My Opinion' page alerting you to that fact.

humanopinion allows for the RSS syndication of all of its public content within the website, and may choose to use this and other information we record, on other site features or services we may provide in the future - without of course identifying you personally as an individual or making this information available to any 3rd party.
