Yes, but i think they will eventually be caught out by the "NME effect" - everyone loves the underdog, which google cleverly positioned themselves as ... now they definitely aren't the underdog and I think folks are going to start turning on them





















ah, but you see, you are missing one crucial point. Microsoft remain constantly engaged in an overt marketing campaign(s). Google no longer have to directly advertise. That is the power of a mega-brand - one that does not need to spend millions on marketing itself. Google has become a verb, a point of reference for us all. Microsoft hasn't and never will. However, I agree that there is the NME effect to consider. Afterall, Google have already made it obvious they are about cash and are a serious business. Now that's not very 'web 2.0' is it.
