Should there be more tax incentives for using public transport and cycling rather than tax hikes on using cars?
ref #150
Rather than taxing people for owning a car should there not be more benefits for not using your car. Owning a car doesn't hurt the environment as much as driving a car.

Public transport should be cheaper - there is no way someone can justify charging 4 times more for a train journey than it would cost in fuel for the equivelent journey by car!

Not just that - the biggets barrier to people getting on their bikes is the fact that most car drivers try and kill cyclists. There needs to be better eductation for drivers.
For example - did you know that you actually HAVE TO give a cyclist the same amount of room as a car when you overtake? now think how many times you overtake a cyclist and only give them a meter or so - you should be right on the other side of the road!
